My Heart's Just Not In It

Well.

It's not been a good year for the Bluebird family, which is why I haven't posted much.  Truth be told, my heart just isn't in it.

We lost a good friend to a heart attack (he was only 42) in January.

That was hard enough, but then, three days later, my beloved Daddy Bird passed away suddenly.

As you can imagine, it has been quite a blow to Mr. Bluebird and I and we have had our hands full with the funeral, getting his house gone through, and I am acting as executor of his estate.  The fact that I have always been a Daddy's Girl, makes this even harder.  My father and I were best of friends as well, something that not everyone, sadly, experiences with their parents.  So, Mr. Bluebird (who is awesome and is my rock) and I have been driving back and forth to where Daddy Bird lived (three hours away) to get things taken care of.

Taking care of an estate is a second full-time job, I've decided.

Fortunately, The Principal is an angel and is letting me have as much time off as I need.  However, the thought of leaving my kids with a sub for too long is somewhat daunting.  And truly, I kind of need to see my kids.  They have been a lot of comfort for me these past few weeks.

So, I'm not feeling funny, or witty, or particularly motivated to blog.

I'm just missing the best Daddy a girl could ever have.

I'm so sad to hear of the passing of your Dad. My own Dad has been gone over twenty years and I still cry from time to time. My heart is with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. At least you have the love and support of your husband and your principal to help you get through it. I hope your school year ends on a much happier note that it is now. (((hugs)))

You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. Don't worry about us. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who feels like she knows you and would give you a hug. Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. Take as much time as you need during this process of healing and know that all your readings will be patiently and understandingly waiting for your return, whenever you choose it to be the right time. xo, Alex

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I'm a Daddy's Girl, as well, so I can't even imagine how difficult this time has been. I'm glad you have Mr. Bluebird to support you.

Ohhhhhhh, Mrs. Bluebird, I am so sorry! I have always enjoyed your mentions of Daddybord on your blog. I lost my mama, my best friend, three years ago. It is HARD, because as grown-up as we are, losing a parent makes us feel like lost children. Thoughts and prayers for you right now....

Mrs. Bluebird, my deepest and most sincere condolences to you on the loss of your father.

Mine will turn 72 this year, and I can scarcely imagine life without him around.

My prayers are with you.

Dear Friend,

My heart goes out to your. I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I know you loved him very much.

I told Mr. Gumby that I was glad 2012 was over. He lost his dear Mother in March and I lost my Dad in July. I'm still dealing with convoluted estate and family trust issues. Sigh. I hate being administrator and trustee. Double sigh. You have my sympathies in this regard as well.

My spring break will be coming up at the end of March. Email me and let me know if you still need help with sorting through your Dad's estate, etc. I can drive down and help you. (Unfortunately, I have recent experience in this.)
