Time to Recuperate

Fall Break has finally arrived.  And I finally had a chance to get a good night's sleep and managed twelve hours.  Can you say that we're exhausted?  Pretty much so.  Don't know exactly what it is, but everyone at The School has commented on the fact that we all feel physically and emotionally like we usually do in May, at the end of the year.   I have my suspicions on the cause - more and more paperwork coming down from The State and the District (aka more BS we have to do other than teaching), more testing of the kids (aka time out of my calendar that I could use to teach), bigger class sizes, even less parent involved (every year it gets worse), and goodness knows what else.

We are tired.  And it's only October.

I think your school district has finally morphed into the one in California from which I just retired. What you are writing about now, I saw for the last 5 years. It does not get better, just different.

I'm with you! I am DRAINED every day although so far this year is a million times better than last year for me. I am struggling a bit because I realize it is only October, and I don't have a break until Thanksgiving and I'm totally zonked by 6 p.m. every day!

Ditto with the feeling drained! I have been coming home on Friday to sleep for nearly 12 hours due to all the insanity. I'm hoping I'm still in the "adjusting back to work" stage of the year and that I'll equalize soon!

I just took a 4 day mini vacation that actually required me to take 1 day off from the school bus and 3 days off from transit (my weekend/mon and wed nights job)

The time I spent just relaxing, recuperating, swimming, and enjoying myself was pure bliss. Its too bad I don't get a chance to do that on a regular basis. Back to work Tuesday!

Things are starting to level out a bit, but I felt like my year was taking its toll on my energy level at an accelerated pace, too. At week three, I could have sworn it should have been the end of the first quarter. Things are getting better...for now. It's just one of those years.

Ditto from the gulf coast - I have asked many times. "Is it May?" - sure feels like it.
